Useful information

Refreshments and catering

Tea/coffee, homemade cakes, cream teas, light lunches and ice-cream are available from our kiosk throughout the season and at all events.

Groups and coach parties can pre-order lunches and teas in the West Wing.

Coaches can drop off and collect guests at the top of the drive at the Entrance Arch. When possible a member of the family is available to greet coach parties and give a brief introduction to the house and gardens. Otherwise a representative from Castle Hill will greet the coach and give the talk.

Catering for groups

The West Wing will be available exclusively for coach parties where homemade lunches or Devon Cream Teas are served.  Please note that lunches and teas must be booked in advance for all groups and we require 5 working days notice of catering numbers for invoicing purposes.

Please contact us for menu options and prices.

If catering is booked for a coach party, we will also provide a complimentary lunch for the coach driver.

Please request our enquiry form. On receipt, we will send you our Group Booking Form and menus.

Disabled Access

Parking is available adjacent to the ticket entrance. Access to the formal gardens and terraced lawns in front of the house as well as the riverside walk is possible for visitors in wheelchairs or with limited mobility. There are gravel paths that can prove a problem for some wheelchairs, and some of the woodland gardens and hilltop castle are only accessible by steep paths.

We welcome dogs in the gardens but please ensure that they are kept on leads at all times and that you pick up after them. You will find dog litter bins in the grounds.

We welcome your youngsters to come and enjoy the open space of our gardens.

We are pleased to be a Partner Garden for 2018 and look forward to welcoming members of the RHS throughout the season.  Free Access (Member 1).

We offer HHA members free admission to our gardens throughout the season. Please sign in with your membership number on arrival.
