2013 Opening Times
The gardens will be open from Friday 29th March - Sunday 29th September 11am - 5pm, except Saturdays. Refreshments available.
Autumn and Winter Walks 11am - 3pm, except Saturdays. Refreshments not available.
Groups and coach parties are welcome at all times by prior arrangement.

A guided tour of the gardens is also available at £50.00 plus the cost of admission. We greatly enjoy welcoming groups from horticultural societies, WI’s, U3A’s, coach companies and community groups See more below.
Useful information
Refreshments and catering
Tea/coffee, homemade cakes, cream teas and ice-cream are available outside from the ticket office from March - September. Please note that the gardens are not open on Saturdays.
Groups and coach parties can pre-order lunches and teas in the West Wing. See below.
Groups
Coaches may drop and collect guests at the top of the drive at the Entrance Arch. When possible a member of the family is available to greet coach parties and give a brief introduction to the house and gardens. Otherwise a representative from Castle Hill will greet the coach and give the talk.
Catering for groups
The West Wing will be available exclusively for coach parties. Homemade lunches or Devon Cream Teas are served in the West Wing or on the outside terrace if the weather is fine. Please note that lunches and teas must be booked in advance for all groups and we require 5 working days notice of catering numbers for invoicing purposes.
The cost of a simple finger buffet lunch with coffee is £8.00 per person or a more substantial 2 course hot or cold buffet lunch with coffee is £14.50 per person. Therefore the cost of a visit to the gardens with lunch in the West Wing starts at £12.50 per person.
The cost of a Devon cream tea or tea and homemade cake is £6.50 per person. Therefore the cost of a visit to the gardens and tea in the West Wing will be £11.00 per person.
If catering is booked for a coach party, we will also provide a free lunch for the coach driver.

Disabled Access
Parking is available adjacent to the ticket entrance. Access to the formal gardens and terraced lawns in front of the house as well as the riverside walk is possible for visitors in wheelchairs or with limited mobility. There are gravel paths that can prove a problem for some wheelchairs, and some of the woodland gardens and hilltop castle are only accessible by steep paths.
Dogs
We welcome dogs in the gardens but please ensure that they are kept on leads at all times and that you pick up after them. You will find dog litter bins in the grounds.
